Research & Innovation

The keys to success

Research, development and innovation are key factors in ensuring the future competitiveness and success of the automotive components industry. Luxembourg is well aware of these challenges and therefore the Government is encouraging R&D activities and has launched a “cluster” program to support joint research by two or more companies.

Many companies, such as IEE, ELTH, Guardian, Goodyear and Delphi have major R&D centres in Luxembourg. More than 2,200 people are employed in automotive R&D departments.

Luxembourgish Public Research Centres also provide R&D support for businesses. They specialise in materials analysis, nano- and information technologies. ILEA and the Public Research Centre Gabriel Lippmann have agreed to cooperate in the field of research on automotive components.

Luxinnovation, the Luxembourg agency for the promotion of innovation and research, provides information on EU funding programs and assists in the conception of R&D programs.
